Doc is right, go with the 10 inch compound miter saw. A 7 1/4''

will not cut entirely through a 4 X 4

absolutely 10'' and get a sliding miter saw if you can afford
Nunkie
it. this increases the crosscut capacity by a great deal

RPA will set you straight. I had the Dewalt 12'' for about the

As far as a name, Dewalt, Porter Cable, & sometimes Rigid. Name brands do

matter to a craftsman. The tolerances are tighter, & the parts are readily
available. I never had to replace a single part on my 12'' compound miter
saw from Dewalt. They are great with service.

As far as regular homeowner jobs, a 10'' is the only way to go. Stay away
from gimicks, they break or fail.

Have fun!

Go for the 10 or 12 inch. You won't regret it, sooner or later

you will need to cut something larger. It is better to spend a little more

10'' for sure. If you won't be using it a lot, you don't need
Schnookems
the most expensive brand. Laser guides can be a pain since they sometimes

I don't shop BRAND strictly. I shop ''features'' and don't care much

I have two, and both serve me well every day. I would advise, getting a
Compound Miter Saw, if you're going to spend any money for decent.
