Doc is right, go with the 10 inch compound miter saw. A 7 1/4'' MY SEXY NERD will not cut entirely through a 4 X 4 Registered User Joined: Sunday, 16th of May 2010, 21:41:08 Posts: 1777 Viewed 16222 times

absolutely 10'' and get a sliding miter saw if you can afford Nunkie it. this increases the crosscut capacity by a great deal Registered User Joined: Wednesday, 21st of April 2010, 15:17:24 Posts: 1917 Viewed 19460 times

RPA will set you straight. I had the Dewalt 12'' for about the Private same amount of time. WQhen doind fine trim work I used a 10'' for less Registered User blade wobble, accuracy. The tolerances are tighter, & the parts are readily
available. I never had to replace a single part on my 12'' compound miter
saw from Dewalt. They are great with service.
As far as regular homeowner jobs, a 10'' is the only way to go. Stay away
from gimicks, they break or fail.
Have fun!

Go for the 10 or 12 inch. You won't regret it, sooner or later Snugaroo you will need to cut something larger. It is better to spend a little more Registered User now rather than spending money twice. I have an older Dewalt 12''. I have Joined: Thursday, 22nd of April 2010, 21:51:16 had it for about 9 years and it works great. I did replace the blade with Posts: 1459 a Forrest Chopmaster for finish work but even the stock blade was ok for Viewed 4245 times most work.

Go with the 10. Tuna Registered User I don't shop BRAND strictly. I shop ''features'' and don't care much Joined: Saturday, 1st of May 2010, 01:33:04 for the laser sights. Certainly any of the top 5 brands are decent, and Posts: 1277 your choice might be made on amount of use the tool will get, not the Viewed 7366 times highest price, defining better or best.
I have two, and both serve me well every day. I would advise, getting a
Compound Miter Saw, if you're going to spend any money for decent.
